The Cartesian Diver is an age-old science toy that demonstrates the fundamental principles of density and buoyancy. By squeezing a water filled plastic soft drink bottle, a floating object with encapsulated air bubble becomes denser and sinks. Releasing the pressure causes the diver to become less dense and float to the surface.

Our Cartesian diver is made up of wire hooks and clear plastic straws so that students can see the air bubble changes.
